Sensory Perceptions
Often informed by the occurrence of light in nature and its flora, I rely on the principles of light and dark to explore psychological and existential states of being. The work’s media spans from charcoal on paper, to oil paint on panels, and canvas. I create two-dimensional high contrast images that blur the lines between representation and abstraction.

Informed and inspired by her encounters with the natural world, these compositions serve as visual metaphors for the transitions that occur when drifting through various emotional states. Utilizing methods of application and erasure in order to create drawings that allude to natural elements, landscapes, and still life. The effects of sharp and soft focus, along with extreme lights and darks create a swirling, luminous quality that is present in the works that make up Sensory Perceptions.
